ccwebs Instant Messenger

Our ccwebs Instant Messenger is a great alternative to AOL - AIM, MSM .NET messenger. It will allow you to instant message, chat and A/V with ccwebsIM, AOL and MSN services as well as Buddy lists etc. If you have used AOL -AIM or MSN .NET Messenger you can use ccwebsIM to access all three services. This is a lite program unlike other IM programs, ccwebsIM is only 640K. It is fully self contained and uses few system resources. Comes complete, options include: desktop icon, auto launch on startup and more.

Our downloadable program is only 1.44 (including the install package, the ccwebsIM program itself is only 640K) and it does not invade, takeover or hijack your system. Except for one small AD at the bottom of the log screen there is no other AD system or pop-ups. We own and control the software, we do not sell or make available to anyone your email address. The user name you choose when you register is displayed to other ccwebs Instant Messenger users so they may find you, this is the contact name (username) only, no other information is available. This is a phonebook of users, which contains no other information.

To use our ccwebs Instant Messenger you must first download the ccwebsIM program. See "Getting started" for detailed instructions.

Getting Started

Make sure you are online before starting and during the use of this program!

To start using ccwebs Instant Messenger you must download the program and install it then create a username profile. Creating a username profile only takes a minute and will allow you to logon to ccwebs Instant Messenger and AOL - AIM, .NET messenger as well if you wish.

Download the program using the link above (if you have not already).
Save it to your DeskTop or a convenient place.
Double click on it to start the installation, follow the on screen instructions.
Click on "Click here to Register" in the program.
You will be presented with an "Agreement", click (put a checkmark in "I Accept..." if you accept the agreement. Then click on "Next >>"
Enter a users name (if it is already in use you will be prompted for another choice), Password and Email address.
Click on "Register".

If all goes well you will be registered. If you wish to login with AOL - AIM or MSN Messenger simply:

If you are signed on, click on "File", then "Sign Out".
Then click on "Sign in" or "Sign in with a different name".
When the sign in screen asks for your information place your ccwebs Instant Messenger login that you just created in the top section.
Then, put a checkmark in either AOL - AIM or MSN Messenger boxes and you will be prompted for your username and password for their service. You must already have an account with them to log on their service. If you don't you can create one free, see create AOL - AIM account below.

Note: it is not necessary to have an account with AOL - AIM or MSN Messenger to use ccwebs Instant Messenger. You will be able to IM with anyone on our system.)

To make the above procedure automatic simply place a checkmark in the "Remember my information on this computer". The next time you sign in it will remember the information.

Create AOL - AIM account

This step is not necessary unless you want to use the AOL - AIM chat side.

Follow this procedure if:
You don't have an AOL - AIM account and you have friends that use AOL - AIM.
You would like to IM with your friends using AIM chat.

You can create an account free at AOL without downloading their software. Point your browser to: http://my.screenname.aol.com you will be presented with AOL Screen Name Service. On the right hand side of the page you will see a box for "Membership Setup" click on "Get a Screen Name". You will be prompted for information. They will have you go through some security measures by email (twice) to make sure you are a valid "account", follow their instructions. When you are finished return to the ccwebsIM program and log in with your ccwebsIM and AOL - AIM usernames and passwords.*
