This page provides our ccwebs Instant Messenger users help with the following (click on item):

• Getting started. To Register for a Instant Messenger account (not affiliated with AOL or MSN).

• To logon to ccwebs Instant Messenger only.

• To logon to ccwebs Instant Messenger and AIM.

• To logon to ccwebs Instant Messenger .Net Messenger.

• Add or delete a "Buddy" to your Buddy Contact List.

• AOL - AIM Server is down error

• Create an AOL - AIM account

Make sure you are online before starting and during the use of this program!

Please Note: Technical support is not available for usage issues with this program. You are welcome to report errors to except "AIM Server is down", see that issue below.

To start using ccwebs Instant Messenger you must download the program and install it then create a username profile. Creating a username profile only takes a minute and will allow you to logon to ccwebs Instant Messenger and AOL - AIM, .NET messenger as well if you wish.

1. Download the program. Click here to download.
2. Save it to your DeskTop or a convenient place.
3. Double click on it to start the installation, follow the on screen instructions.
4. When the program starts click on "Click here to Register".
5. You will be presented with an "Agreement", click (put a checkmark in "I Accept..." if you accept the agreement. Then click on "Next >>"
6. Enter a users name (if it is already in use you will be prompted for another choice), Password and Email address.
7. Click on "Register".

If all goes well you will be registered. If you wish to login with AOL - AIM or MSN Messenger simply:

1. If you are signed on, click on "File", then "Sign Out".
2. Then click on "Sign in" or "Sign in with a different name".
3. When the sign in screen asks for your information place your ccwebs Instant Messenger login that you just created in the top section.
4. Then, put a checkmark in either AOL - AIM or MSN Messenger boxes and you will be prompted for your username and password for their service. (You must already have an account with them to log on their service. (Note: it is not necessary to have an account with AOL - AIM or MSN Messenger to use ccwebs Instant Messenger. You will be able to IM with anyone on our system.)

To make the above procedure automatic simply place a checkmark in the "Remember my information on this computer". The next time you sign in it will remember the information.

Logon using your existing ccwebs Instant Messenger username. Your buddy list will be displayed and your buddies with ccwebs Instant Messenger will see you, same as when using AOL's AIM:

To log into ccwebs Instant Messenger:

1. Fill in your ccwebs Instant Messenger logon info.
2. Click on Logon.
3. ccwebs Instant Messenger list will display if you have previous entered them.

You can logon using your existing AOL's AIM username. Your buddy list with AOL's AIM will be displayed and your buddies with AOL's AIM will see you same as when using AOL's AIM:

To log into AOL's AIM:

1. Fill in your ccwebs Instant Messenger logon info.
2. Click (checkmark) on Sign into AOL's AIM.
3. Enter your username and password for AOL's AIM.
4. Do not add @aol.com, @netscape.com etc.
5. Click on Logon.
6. AOL's AIM buddy list will display (this can take 5-20 seconds or so) if you have previous entered them.

You can logon using your existing MSN Messenger username. Your buddy list with MSN Messenger will be displayed and your buddies with MSN will see you same as when using MSN Messenger:

To log into MSN Messenger:

1. Fill in your ccwebs Instant Messenger logon info.
2. Click (checkmark) on Sign into MSN Messenger.
3. Enter your username and password for MSN Messenger.
4. You must add @msn.com, @hotmail.com etc.
5. Click on Logon.
6. MSN Messenger takes several minutes to authenticate, so be patient and your buddy list will display.

The person you want to add to your Buddy List must be registered with ccwebs Instant Messenger, AOL or MSN Messaging. You must be signed in with ccwebs Instant Messenger. During sign in you must log into same messaging service as buddy I.E. @AOL, @MSN etc. as well as ccwebsIM

To add Buddy to your Buddy List using Cyber Messenger (IM):

1. Click on Tools.
2. Click on Add Contact.
3. Enter the Buddy Name.
4. If Buddy Name is MSN user add @msn.com, @hotmail.com
5. If Buddy Name is ccwebs Instant Messenger or AOL AIM simply enter the username without @domain.com
6. Click Add Buddy.

To delete or block a buddy from your list:

1. Right click on buddy icon and select choice.
2. Click on Tools and select choice.

For a listing of ccwebsIM users:

1. Click on "Tools", then "Add Contact".
2. On the contact dialog box click on the link words "Member List"

If you need to step away from your computer but do not want to sign off, you can use the Away message and the Idle message to let other users know you are temporarily not available.
 

How to display status:

1. At top of ccwebs Instant Messenger left click My Status.
2. Select message to be displayed from list.
3. Or you may click on File
4. Click on My Status.
5. Select message to be displayed from list

Messages that can be displayed:

1. Online.
2. Busy.
3. Be Right Back.
4. Away.
5. On The Phone.
6. Out To Lunch
7. Appear To Be Offline

Note: My Status will be displayed for ccwebs Instant Messenger, MSN Messenger and AOL's AIM. It will be displayed on all accounts logged into.

You can send an instant message to anyone on your buddy list for ccwebs Instant Messenger, AOL's AIM and MSN Messaging. In addition to sending instant message, AOL's AIM users can start/join AIM Chat Room. AOL's AIM Buddies can be sent an invitation to a private chat room!!

To send an instant message you may right click on buddy's name or use Actions as described below:

1. Click on Actions.
2. Click mouse over Send an Instant Message.
3. Select the Buddy Name.
4. A messaging window will display.
5. Type in your message in text box.
6. Click Send.

To start/join AIM Chat Room:

1. Click on Actions.
2. Click on Join AIM Chat Room.
3. A window will display.
4. Type in name of existing chat room you wish to join.
5. Or create a new chat room by entering name in text box.
6. Join in chat with buddies listed to the right.
7. Or click on Invite/Options to invite buddies to your room.

Note: Due to the differences in smiley code between MSN & AOL all codes from MSN will be viewed, but AOL's AIM is incompatible. Below are the only graphical emoticons or graphical smileys that can be sent to AOL's AIM users.

Create AOL - AIM account

This step is not necessary unless you want to use the AOL - AIM chat side.

Follow this procedure if:
You don't have an AOL - AIM account and you have friends that use AOL - AIM.
You would like to IM with your friends using AIM chat.

You can create an account free at AOL without downloading their software. Point your browser to: http://my.screenname.aol.com you will be presented with AOL Screen Name Service. On the right hand side of the page you will see a box for "Membership Setup" click on "Get a Screen Name". You will be prompted for information. They will have you go through some security measures by email (twice) to make sure you are a valid "account", follow their instructions. When you are finished return to the ccwebsIM program and log in with your ccwebsIM and AOL - AIM usernames and passwords.*

This is a generic error. The AOL server did not respond to the username and password authorization request. Simply wait a minute or two and try to sign on again. You may have to sign out and then sign in again.
