configuration implemented |

|
Make the
following changes ONLY if you are For Windows 95, 98, 98SE, ME, XP, 2000™ Note that the different versions of Windows™ will show slightly different screens but the procedure will be essentially the same, Mac users need to change your "Internet Setup" see your instruction manual. (You can also use
these directions to modify your dial-up settings if needed, example: if
you need to use an alternate dial-up phone number or on vacation and
need to use a number away from home.) On your desktop open (double click) "My Computer":
Then double click on "Dialup Networking":
This will list your dialup accounts:
Choose the connection to Cape Cod Web Service . Com or ccwebs.com or whatever you named it and SINGLE click on the connection, Then click on "File", this will bring up the menu list:
Select the "Properties" menu option. The "Properties" dialog box will open:
You will notice that the telephone number is listed as we have dialed it in the past. You need to change the number by adding your current area code. Example: If your area code is 508 then change the number by clicking in the phone number field or box and add the 508 in front of 632-5599 use your current area code not the new ones listed unless the telco has changed it. Do NOT put the area code in the area code box! (632-5599 is an example do not change your dialup number xxx-xxxx): Note: Do NOT add a "1" to the
number.
After you make the addition click the OK button, then connect to the internet as you have in the past, make sure you get a connection, try using your browser, if it works then just disconnect as you normally would. Remember the 632-5599 number is an example, if your number is different than 632-5599 do not change it, leave the 7 digit number and add your current area code in front of your dialup number! That should do it. Please note that these changes have nothing to do with our service, the phone company(s) have implemented these changes for all your local numbers. To call your next door neighbor to chat you will need to dial 10 digits. If you would like to print these instructions click here for the PDF version.
